Fall Starts Tonight at 10:29PM Eastern Time

Tonight is the beginning of Fall. I really enjoy this time of year because the heat from Summer really gets to me from day to day. This is a reason I enjoy nights during the Summer. It is cooler, but you do not need a jacket to keep warm.

Fall on the other hand is a season of changes. It symbols when time slows down in a day or a person’s life. This is also the time we harvest crops, sell in the market, and get prepared for the hard time of the year. The days will be getting shorter and the nights longer. Before we know it we will be setting the clocks back, trick-or-treating, being thankful, celebrating the birth of our Savior, and finally bringing in a New Year.

The Science Behind It All

Well this happens twice a year. This, at 10:29 PM today, is the Autumnal Equinox. This happens around this time every year in the Northern Hemisphere on September 22 or 23. In the Southern Hemisphere it will be the Vernal Equinox (Spring). This also happens in March 20th to 21st but Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Fall in the Southern Hemisphere.

Earth will become vertical on its axis. During this time we will have almost 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. This will be on September 23rd. This will be the longest day and after this it will begin to get shorter.

The opposite happens in the Southern Hemisphere. It is Spring in the southern part of Earth. The reason is because the planet has tilted the Southern Hemisphere towards the Sun now. The seasons are changing again. Pretty soon Winter will be here and so will Christmas. Have a great Harvest this year.
