Gene Wilder Dies: ‘Willy Wonka’, ‘Young Frankenstein’ & ‘Blazing Saddles’ Star | Deadline

Gene Wilder, whose many credits include Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles, has died.

I loved Charlie in the Chocolate Factory when I was a child, still do today. The movie inspired me to be a good person and get rewarded for who you are. I was in a struggle becoming a Christian and I saw Willy Wonka as God and the workers as angels. It made me realize that good people will be rewarded, maybe not at the beginning, but at the end they will get the greatest reward. The year I first watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the year I became a Christian.  May you rest in peace Gene Wilder. ( June 11, 1933 to August 28, 2016)
