Depression: Happy on the Outside, Sad on the Inside

This is to everyone that sees this so click on this link and read it to be educated. You may think people who are depressed appear to be happy or you do not understand why someone does not want to do things with you. Well all I have to say is the first thing do not judge them because that is not your job, that is God’s job. Second be kind for two reasons one I learned as a kid, what goes around comes around and the other God tells us to be kind one to another.

Matthew 7:1-3 King James Version (KJV)

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Ephesians 4:32 King James Version (KJV)

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

We Put on a Show to Hide How We Truly Feel

It really blows my mind and bothers me people cannot comprehend or care that we who are depressed need to put a mask on to make it appear we are happy. It is like going to work vs living at home. We put on one mask at work and another when we are at home. There are times we can take them all off and open up to friends and be who we truly are, but that takes a lot of trust and that comes with good faith and time.

Being depressed does not mean we are always going to be crying or you will be able to see it. It takes strength to hide how you truly feel. Although it takes even more strength to express your true feelings. The problem with expressing your true feelings is having them being accepted and taken serious. When you tell someone that what they said hurt your feelings and they laugh in your face in feels like they stabbed you in the heart.

What to do to Prevent Depression

It is hard to control depression. You need to figure out what your triggers are that makes you depressed. If you can remove yourself from them, if not try to deal with the problem. We all have problems everyday we need to deal with and we need to accept it. Also educate those who are around you what bothers you. It can be something as simple as the color of a shirt because that is what a lost loved one wore on your first date. If friends or family are not willing to be a little inconvenience for you then they are not worth your time or inconvenience. Take some alone time it will help you clear your mind. I don’t mean being on Facebook or Twitter. Get away from everything. Sit with your dog or cat outside watching the sunset is so peaceful. I do it everyday and sometimes it is hard for me to go back inside. The doctors say depression is a chemical imbalance but I think it may be true but has to be triggered somehow. We just need to find a way to balance it out. It takes everyone you are around day to day so if they do not want to help then kick them out.

Acceptance of Life is All That is Needed

Now I am not perfect. Although when I feel good is when I accept the way life is going. Just because something happens you get sad, angry, and withdrawn for a couple weeks does not make you seriously depressed. What can is you do not accept that things just happen and life can really suck sometimes. Like Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you’re going to get.”.

Finally do not let depression bring you down and out. We need to deal with it. We need to become stronger and overcome our challenges. Nothing in life is easy so accept that we need to grow stronger everyday to become greater. Also those who go through harder times have more difficult destination that you are destined for.
